WHY SHOULD I JOIN THE MGA?

MGA Purpose: The MGA exists to provide organized golfing events for its members. You must be a Horseshoe Bay Resort golfing member to join. MGA Governance: The Association is a non-profit entity. It has an ten person board of volunteers that meet as needed with the Director of Golf to set the schedule, budget for each event, and set each events' rules. MGA Divisions: There are currently two divisions within the association: A Senior Division and an Open Division. The Senior Divison consists on men over 70. Men over 70 with a low handicap may elect to play in the Open Diviison. The Open Division consists of all others. The Senior Division plays from the Executive (gold) tees. From now til June 30, 2011, the MGA is offering Seniors the chance to join for only $60 (instead of the normal $80).
MGA Golf Year: Begins in early December and continues through the year and culminates in the Cup Matches in November. Weekly Quota Game: Each Thursday that doesn't conflict with aeration or another MGA or Club sponsored event, the MGA hosts a Stableford quota game with 36 Point base @ approx 11:30 on Slick Rock. MGA Member-Guest Events 20 May 2011   1 Day Member-Guest, 27 holes Details   Slick Rock 7-8 October 2011   2 Day Member-Guest   Ram Rock - Slick Rock MGA CUP Matches Members earn the right to play by accumulating points throughout the year. Points are awarded for participating in the weekly quota event (500/event), the special events (2500/event), and Member-Guests (3500/event). Points are also awarded to the top 25% of the field in each special event based on their finish position. At year-end the top 36 point earners are split into two 18-man teams, managed by a pro. Each 18-man team has three flights (by handicap) and each player plays five 9-hole matches over two days against opponents from the other team.
